Famous Algerian actor and comedian Mohamed Hilmi is dead.

The famous Algerian actor and comedian Mohamed Hilmi died this Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the age of 90, according to Algerian Television. The funeral is scheduled for the afternoon after Asr’s prayer at Sidi M’hamed cemetery in Algiers.

His real name Ameziane Brahimi, the artist Mohamed Hilmi was born on February 15, 1931 in Azeffoun in the wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou, in Kabylia. Coming from an artistic family including his younger brother Saïd Hilmi, also an actor who died in August 2021 at the age of 82, Mohamed Hilmi, has had immense success on the Algerian artistic scene.

Known for his many acting roles on television and in the cinema, Mohamed Hilmi is best known for his numerous theatrical and musical works. He is the author of numerous sketches which use the ditty and has often devoted himself to the making of numerous films for television such as: Chkoune Yassbag, El Ghoumouk, Ec-Chitta, Matfahmine, Listihlak and especially Post-oil.

Mohamed Hilmi also directed a feature film in 1993, titled The Ouelf Essaib. He also learned about writing by publishing a satirical comedy called Democra-circus. Mohamed Hilmi also wrote in 1996 an autobiography relating his artistic journey entitled ” From the shepherd’s flute, to the sacred planks ».
