Minutes of Meeting with the New Consul of Algeria in Manchester
Meeting 9:30 am at Irish World Heritage Centre – Manchester
Items:
1) Introduction of the new Algerian Consul to London, Mr Abdelkrim Bahha, and his accompanying staff. Mr Bahha was appointed to London a month ago.
2) An issue was raised: the unavailability of parking at the new consulate premises (5 Portal Way, London W3 6RT), and the fact that the Car Park gates at the consulate are always closed. Mr Bahha reassured that this has now been resolved, and that the Car Park is now open to anyone attending the Algerian Consulate.
3) Ways of contacting the consulate: Mr Bahha affirmed that anyone wishing to contact the consulate will shortly have one ‘centralized’ email address, that he himself will oversee. Contacting the Consulate by way of phone will still be available. Mr Bahha pleaded for members of the community to show patience when ringing the consulate, particularly at busy times.
4) The issue of Data Protection over Internet was raised. Mr Bahha reassured that Data is protected, and that he will instruct his IT department to provide more details about this. He also stated that issues of this nature are usually dealt with by the higher authority of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers.
The meeting closed at 10:00 am.
